Faisalabad: Rawalpindi Rams defeated Karachi Dolphins in a ‘Super Over’ after the match was tied. Credit goes to Raza Hasan who held his nerves and took Rams to the victory stand.

Opening ceremony of the final
In the jam-pack Iqbal Stadium, Sohail Tanvir, captain of Rawalpindi Rams won the toss and decided to bowl first because of overcast and damp pitch conditions.
Karachi Dolphin Innings
His team met the success first in the 4th over when a good throw from Hammad Azam to Jamal Anwar took the bails off the stumps and sent dangerous hitter of ball, Shahzaib Hasan back to the pavilion.
Ramiz Raja who became the hero of Pakistan after playing several successful innings in this tournament came in to take Karachi out of this condition.
The bowlers of Rawalpindi Rams although bowl on very good line and length but fine strokes from Asad Shafiq and Ramiz Raja took Karachi to a leading position.
Raza Hasan in the 10th over bought a breakthrough by taking the golden wicket of Asad Shafiq. It was an arm bowl which hit on the pad plumb in front of the stumps, Asad missed it and got lbw out, umpire Ahsan Raza confirmed the dismissal. Asad Shafiq scored 36 runs off 26 balls and hit 6 fine boundaries.
Khalid Latif then came in to keep the scoreboard ticking. It was another crucial segment of 10 over in which the bowlers of Rams dominated as the batsmen weren’t allowed to free their arms.
After adding 70 runs with his partner, Rameez Raja was caught behind in result of trying to hit a fine ball of Raza Hasan over midwicket. Rameez once again received cheers from the fans for his fascinating 64 runs which he scored off 46 balls with the help of 4 FOURS & 5 SIXES.
On the very next ball, new batsman Fawad Alam tried to hit the tossed-up ball out of the park but caught out at deep midwicket area where Rameez took a good catch.
The last 3 balls went for 4 runs. Sarfraz Ahmed was run-out at the last ball in result of an effort to take 2 runs. It was a good performance by both teams. Karachi Dolphins scored 164/5 in 20.0 overs. Raza Hasan of Rawalpindi Rams was the pick of the bowlers as he took 3 wickets for 24 runs in his quota of 4 overs.
Rawalpindi Rams Innings
Awais Zia and Naved Malik opened the innings for Rams but because of good bowling by Sohail Khan, Naved caught behind after he tried to cut the good length ball.
In the same over, Sohail picked another wicket when umpire Saleem Badar raised up his finger for an lbw shout. Jamal Anwar was the victim of that call as the ball hit him hight above the pad.
Two early wickets bubbled up the junction of Karachi Dolphins with joy. Umar Amin who wasn’t that impressive in the tournament then made a partnership with Awais Zia who was giving cracking answers to the bowlers of Dolphins.
At the score of 56 in the 6th over, Sohail Khan once again ripped the big wicket of Awais Zia and sent him back to pavilion. Awais scored 43 runs off 20 balls & hit 7 FOURS & 1 SIX.
Captain of Rams, Sohail Tanvir who was stunning in the last matches failed to show his heroics here and got out in the same over. The tail of Rams was almost exposed.
Adnan Mufti came in and played his role by scoring 31 runs off 25 balls. His partnership with Umar Amin strengthened the position of Rawalpindi Rams.
Mufti was trapped by the fast and short ball of Mohammad Sami which hits his bat high and went straight to the wicket keeper. The new batsman, Hammad Azam who was out of form played aggressively and took his team out of this crisis.
After adding 30 runs with Umar Amin, he got out at the good length ball of Tanvir Ahmed which nips back a bit but was enough to rattle the stumps.
Zahid Mansoor who was new on the pitch threw his wicket on the ball of Haris Ayaz. 130/7 in 16.2 pushed Rawalpindi Rams in the trouble. At this threatening stage, Mohammad Rameez smashed 2 balls out of the ground. These SIXES added a lot to the drama.
But to end this misery, Sohail Khan came back and claimed his 5th wicket in result of a slow yorker which hit Rameez on the toe in front of the middle and leg stump.
Now 18 runs were required off 14 balls which wasn’t a stiff goal. Samiullah hit a FOUR in the second last over to settle the things a bit.
In the last over 9 runs were required off 6 balls. Azam Hussain was with the bowl and Samiullah was on the striking end. Azam tossed it up on the leg stumps and Samiullah played a lofted drive towards long-on for a SIX.
On the next ball, Umar Amin came down the wicket and hit a handsome SIX over long-on. The world saw a glimpse of his talent in such a superb shot which came under pressure.
Rawalpindi Rams were now 2 runs behind the victory, Azam bowled the 3rd ball short which was just outside off stump, Umar went for a cut shot but missed it.
Feeling of fear and thunder was in the air. Umar Amin succeeded in taking single off the next ball, now a single was in between the victory and Rams. On the very next ball, Samiullah tried to finish it with a big hit and caught out at short midwicket.
Wicket at such a point was just like an entry of a new character in a ‘Hollywood’ movie but everyone know that anything can happen in ‘Cricket’ till the last ball.
Now the equation was ’1 ball , 1 run , 1 wicket left’. Raza Hasan was the batsman to face the last ball, he came down the wicket to hit the well tossed ball of Azam but missed the ball and Sarfraz ripped the bails.
Super Over
The crowd shocked to heard that the match ended in a draw and now the ‘Super Over’ will come into play. Nobody was thinking about such a thrilling T20 final.
Three batsman of Rawalpindi Rams, Awais Zia, Naved Malik and Hammad Azam were named by their teams and Sohail Khan was the bowler from Karachi Dolphins.
