SLC announced squad for Asia Cup 2012

Colombo: ‘Sri Lanka Cricket’ (SLC) announced squad of Sri Lanka for Asia Cup 2012 which will start from March 11, 2012. Prasanna & Lakmal have been called back.

Fast bowlers Dhammika Prasad and Chanaka Welegedara who were part of Sri Lanka squad for the Commonwealth Bank Series in Australia are dropped.

 

Sri Lankan trio; Farveez Maharoof, Angelo Mathews and Thisara Perera who are down with injuries are also included in the Sri Lankan squad for Asia Cup.

 

26-year old off-spinner Seekkuge Prasanna (was dropped because of bad form) and fast bowler 24-year old Suranga Lakmal (was omitted of the squad because of ankle injury) are inducted in the squad, it will certainly strengthen Sri Lanka’s squad.

 

Mahela Jaywardene & Angelo Mathews have been retained as captain and vice-captain respectively.

 

Sri Lankan team lost the ODI series first against Pakistan in UAE by 4-1, then against South Africa by 3-2 & now qualified for the finals of the on-going tri-series in Australia.

 

They’ll face Pakistan, India & Bangladesh in the Asia Cup 2012 which will be played in Bangladesh from March 11 to March 22.

Mahela Jayawardene (capt), Angelo Mathews (vice-capt), Tillakaratne Dilshan, Upul Tharanga, Kumar Sangakkara (wk), Dinesh Chandimal, Lahiru Thirimanne, Thisara Perera, Farveez Maharoof, Sachithra Senanayaka, Nuwan Kulasekara, Lasith Malinga, Seekkuge Prasanna, Suranga Lakmal.
